End-user Courses on Emergency Response start in APF Kurintar

On 22 March, 2016 the formal opening of the Medical First Responder and Collapsed Structure Search and Rescue End Users Courses was organised at the Armed Police Force (APF) Disaster Management Training Center, Kurintar.  These courses are being conducted jointly by National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET) and the APF Disaster Management Training Center. They are part of NSET’s Program for Enhancement of Emergency Response (PEER), supported by USAID / Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance.

These courses are just one of the core, skills-based courses NSET delivers under PEER. They provide critical training to Nepal’s first responders, including the Nepalese Army, Nepal Police and Armed Police Force.

Chief guest, Senior Superintendent of Armed Police Force Bharat Kumar Shrestha stated that APF is always on the front line of search and rescue operations in Nepal. During Nepal’s 2015 earthquakes, the APF’s PEER graduates effectively mobilized and played key roles to save lives. Acting Commandant of the APF Disaster Management Training Center, SP Raj Kumar Rai indicated that the center is eager to conduct more PEER trainings, with support from NSET and USAID/ Office of U.S. Foreign Disaster Assistance.
