Call for Registration for a 5-Day Online Training on "Basics of Earthquake Resistant Design and Construction of Buildings"

Nepal Engineers’ Association (NEA) Bagmati Province Professional Security and Capacity Building Committee with technical support from NSET-Nepal is going to organize a 5-Day online training for fresher engineers on "Basics of Earthquake Resistant Design and Construction of Buildings" from 25-29 May 2020, two hours each day.

The registration is open till midnight 23rd May.
40 participants will be selected based on first come first serve via google form registration.

Engineers Training

Online Training for Fresh Engineers

1. Topic:
Online Training for Fresh Engineers on Basics of Earthquake Resistant Design and Construction of Buildings

2. Training Date:
May 25 to May 29, 2020 (Five Days)

3. Training Time:
11:30 am to 2:00 pm (2 sessions per day)

4. Program Organizers:
The training is being organized and fully facilitated by the Professional Security and Capacity Building Committee under Nepal Engineers’ Association, Bagmati Province and technically supported for training materials and instructors by National Society for Earthquake Technology - Nepal (NSET).

5. Target Participants
The targeted participants for this training are engineers, who have just graduated (freshers) from any recognized university with a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering/architecture or who are working in the field of building construction for a duration of about 2 years. The participants of the training should have a good internet connection, a computer, a normal camera, and a microphone (preferably a laptop with a headset/earphone).

A maximum of 40 participants, meeting the above-mentioned requirements, will be selected on first come first serve basis.

6. Mode of Delivery:
The mode of delivery for this training is ONLINE by the use of ZOOM application as a virtual platform created by the organizer, through a series of lectures facilitated by PowerPoint presentations, assignments, and Q/A discussions. The presentation slides are prepared in the English language. However, the language of delivery will be English or Nepali or any language understood by all the participants of the training.

» Failure patterns of Load-bearing masonry buildings
» Design concept of Load-bearing masonry buildings
» Earthquake resistant brick masonry and stone masonry buildings
» Failure patterns of RC Frame buildings
» Earthquake Resistant RC Frame building
» Quality of materials and construction quality
» Introduction to Repair, Restoration and Retrofitting of Buildings

8. Certification:
Participants who attend all the sessions of the course will be awarded a Certificate of Participation in Online training. Absence from any of the sessions of the course will prevent completion of the course, and therefore, disqualify the participant from receiving the certificate.

9. The last date for registration is 23rd May 2020, 00:00. Late submission will not be entertained.
