NSET marked 27 years of its Journey
National Society for Earthquake Technology–Nepal (NSET) has marked 27 years of its journey with various sharing and learning programs. This year's programs, however, were organized on digital platforms due to ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.
To mark the Day, NSET hosted 'National Webinar on Multi-Hazard Risk Reduction and Preparedness Coupled with Covid-19' on June 18, 2020. Also, an International Webinar on “Addressing Multi hazard Risk in context of Covid-19: A Global Perspective” was hosted on June 22, 2020.
Established in 1993 with its mission to enhance seismic safety of Nepali communities and the beyond, NSET observes the day on June 18 every year as 'A Day to Reaffirm the Commitments to Earthquake Safety".
In an internal NSET Day event organized on June 19, 2020, NSET Executive Director Mr. Surya Narayan Shrestha welcomed all the staff appreciating for their support and contribution to NSET mission. "NSET has come thus far overcoming all adverse situations. Nonetheless, we have accomplished many activities during the period. The major challenge for the future is the continuation and institutionalization of the past efforts and achievements," Mr.Shrestha remarked.
NSET General Secretary Dr. Amod Mani Dixit in his address highlighted the major achievements and learnings of NSET’s 26 years journey. “NSET has set some important milestones in disaster risk reduction in Nepal,” Dr. Dixit mentioned.
As part of internal sharing session, altogether 9 presentations made by NSET professionals on diverse areas of NSET works. And then followed second part NSET Day with entertainment events where NSET staff presented and showcased their talents like singing, literary creations and also shared reflections/experiences how they are tackling and living with COVID-19 situations that everybody has to deal with globally.
More than 140 participants including NSET Staff, Board Members and guests had joined the ceremony.
