Community awareness on Earthquake Risk Reduction & Preparedness Activities
An awareness presentation on Earthquake Risk Reduction and Preparedness was organized on Saturday 14th February, 2015 at Lubhu, laitpur. The Orientation was conducted to the staffs of LCCI Lubhu Branch for the enhancemt & awareness in private sector and improve the capacity of their industrial business. The entire presentation was basically divided into two major portions namely Earthquake Risk Reduction and Preparedness Activity, covered by NSET presenters Mr. Surya Bhakta Sangachhe, Project Manager, 3PERM and Mr. Anil Upadhayay, Sr. Media Officer respectively. The participants were specially informed to focus on earthquake preparedness in personal and community level rather than panicking by the risks posed by uncertain but inevitable earthquake hazard. Mr. Surya Bhakta Sangachhe, Program Manager of 3PERM Program of NSET presented briefly on risk of earthquake and need for preparedness as well as highlighted on the need of disaster recovery for business industry stakeholders. Mr Sangachhe also pointed out the need to set an example of an effective Business Continuity Planning (BCP) so that the critical services of the businesses would not be interrupted. From the participants, Mr. Mahesh Shrestha majorly emphasized the need of public awareness towards disaster risk reduction and preparedness planning. He highlighted the need and importance of such programs to bring awareness among the business community and the public in general. At the end of the Session, Mr. Ajarman Joshi, President of LCCI, made his closing remarks by thanking the participants and NSET team for taking initiation to ignite the business sector stakeholders to start preparedness activities and to mitigate the risk. He also requested all business stakeholders to spread positive message about Earthquake preparedness.
