Call for Abstracts: Young Researcher’s Session on Disaster Risk Reduction

The organizing committee calls for abstracts for oral presentation of papers in the field of Disaster Risk Reduction in Nepal during the Young Researcher’s Session of the 21st National Symposium on "Earthquake Disaster Management and Risk Reduction in Nepal". The symposium will be held on January 22, 2019, at Kathmandu. The session aims to support and encourage young researchers from engineering, disaster risk reduction, environmental sector and social sciences in their study, research and implementation in DRR.

PARTICIPATION CRITERIA

Young Researchers working in different academic, corporate, social institutions and civil society organizations in aspects of Disaster Risk Reduction or who have been studying and working at different levels and areas to support Disaster Risk Reduction, belonging to age group of 16-40 years are eligible for submitting their application.

» Following criteria are set for the abstract submission:

a. The applicants are required to submit their concept paper in the form of Abstract not exceeding 500 words.

b. The abstract must incorporate the Objectives of Research, Methodology adopted, Findings and Conclusion.

c. The topics must be relevant to the aspects of disaster risk reduction, preparedness, emergency response, recovery and reconstruction pertaining to the field of physical science to social science.

d. The abstract should be from the research work in innovations, technologies and methodologies and/or sharing of experience and findings of young students and professionals from the field of DRR.

» A selection committee under the core symposium organizer team will select five papers for presentation based upon the contents and their relevancy of the session.

» The presentation will be oral.

» Only selected candidates will be contacted for submission of oral presentation. The selection committee reserves the right to accept or reject any paper without assigning any reasons whatsoever.

DEADLINE OF SUBMISSION

The abstracts must be submitted no later than Saturday, 12 Jan 2019. The abstract should be submitted through email with participant name, contact details, and require attachments at nationalsymposium@nset.org.np. While submitting an abstract please keep the subject "Submission of Abstract for Young Researcher's Session".
