Vacancy for the position of District Er. (NSSP)

The Nepal Safer Schools Project (NSSP) is one of six projects of DFID’s ‘Strengthening Disaster Resilience in Nepal’. The NSSP is aligned with and will contribute to the Government of Nepal’s School Sector School Sector Development Plan (2016-2023) which includes a focus on School Safety and Disaster Risk Reduction. Its priorities and targets include; upgrading physical infrastructure to be more resilient; strengthening disaster risk management in schools; and ensuring disaster resilience curriculum, teacher training and resources. The NSSP is being implemented by a consortium which includes Crown Agents as the lead and members are National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal(NSET), Save the Children, and Arup.

NSET seeks application for the following position from eligible candidates:

1. Position: District Engineer

No. of Positions: Three
Appointment Type: Full Time for 1 year with possibility of extension
Qualification: Bachelors’ Degree in Civil Engineering (Master’s Degree in Engineering will be preferred)
Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in similar field
Location: Bardiya, Surkhet, Achham and Jumla District

Skills and abilities:

»  AutoCAD

»  Training delivery and social mobilization
»  Familiar with various computer software packages, including Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook and Excel
»  Leadership Skill
»  Documentation and management Skill
»  Interested to work at community level
»  Holding Motor Bike driving license
»  Ability to work under pressure

Main Responsibilities:

»  Conducting/assisting different training programs and orientations in program District
»  Training delivery/ management and reporting
»  Supervision of construction, operations, and maintenance activities within District
»  Liaise with cluster sub-engineers regarding technical issues faced by sub-engineers
»  Coordinate activities with stakeholders
»  Produce written reports on activities and outcomes
»  Perform other duties as assigned
