Call for application from Young Nepalese Scientists to IGNITE or POSTER presentation


A Young Scientists’ Forum is scheduled as a part of the R2R (give full in Bold). The Organizers invite applications from young Nepalese scientists to attend and present posters or IGNITE presentations on the Conference overall theme of enhancing disaster resilience in Nepal. The session aims to support and encourage young scientists from any discipline of physical, engineering, or social sciences to showcase their study, research, and implementation of DRR initiatives and innovations. This session is designed to provide a platform to Young Researchers to discuss their works among renowned DRM members from government agencies, academia, private sector businesses, and practitioners from various fields.

PARTICIPATION CRITERIA

Young Scientists and students of 16-40 years of age, working or interested in any aspect of natural hazard and risk assessment, risk governance, risk reduction and preparedness, independent or working with academic, government, private sector or civil society organizations are eligible to apply. We expect contributions in the use of science and technology for DRR.

APPLICATION SUBMISSION


a. Submit an abstract (max 500 words) as an attachment to an email message to rdhungel@nset.org.np

b. The topics must be relevant to the Session’s theme; may pertain to Innovations Robots, Drones, Automated machines, technologies, methodologies and Hazard/Vulnerability capacity assessment.

c. The presentation may be a Poster or Ignite presentation. Please indicate your choice.

d. The papers must be submitted no later than 10th June 2018. The abstract should be submitted by email with participant name, contact details and require attachments at rdhungel@nset.org.np.

e. A selection committee will select six applications/abstracts for IGNITE presentation and ten applications/abstracts for POSTER presentation. Only selected candidates will get access to the session. Three best presenters will receive R2R Young Scientist Best Presentation Award.

f. The decision of the selection committee will be final.
