Disaster Resilient Communities in Nepal by 2050

Interactive Seminar started at Khokana for Reconstruction Process


On 25th April, 2015, a massive 7.6 magnitude earthquake struck Nepal and was followed by dozens of aftershocks which caused a huge damage throughout the whole country. Many old, Architecturally rich settlements were almost destructed. Khokana ,which is one of the oldest village around the valley with rich architects is one of the most victimized area within the valley .Among total of 944 families residing within the village almost 840 were displaced and were forced to take shelter elsewhere. Similarly, other structures like monuments,temples,public buildings, roads etc are also severely damaged and are waiting for repair and reconstruction .Even the people is  finding difficulties in fulfilling their basics needs  like health,food,water supplies etc. To address all these problems and provide people with support and motivation the committee “Khokana Earthquake Victim Rehabilitation Committee” was established.

With the aim of collecting the suggestions, views and demands from the earthquake victim regarding the reconstruction process, The Khokana Earthquake Victim Rehabilitation Committee started an Interactive Seminar from August 18, 2015 and will last for 10 days. The Khokana Earthquake Victim Rehabilitation Committee is the main organizer of the seminar however they will be  supported by NSET, action aid and Karyabinayak municipality throughout the process .The Organizer have invited the people from different fields considering only 30 people each day from each field.
