Municipalities to work intensively for effective Building Code Implementation in the West
Planning workshop on Building Code Implementation in Municipalities concluded on September 19, 2014 at Nepalgunj with the development of framework of Action plans for effective implementation of building code in the municipalities. 28 engineers from 11 different municipalities,Tulsipur, Ghorahi, Nepalgunj, Guleriya, Narayan, Surkhet, Bheemdutta. Dhangadi, Dashratchand, Amargadhi, Birendranagar municipality,Chief Executive Officer from some of the municipalities and engineers from Surkhet, Banke, Jumla and Doti DUDBC division offices actively participated the program. Mr. Suresh Prakash Acharya, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Urban Development (MOUD), Mr. Gopi Krishna Khanal, Joint Secretary Ministry of Federal Affairs and Local Development (MOFALD), Mr. Prakirna Tuladhar, Senior Divisional Engineer from Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC), Mr. Santosh Gyawali, Aid Development Specialist,DRR office USAID, Kathmandu and Mr. Amod Mani Dixit, Executive Director of NSET graced the occasion and provided their valuable inputs and guidance to take the action forward.
Prior to the workshop a three day training program for municipal engineers and sub-engineers on Earthquake Resistant Building: Design and Evaluation was conducted. The programs were conducted as a part of the Building Code Implementation Program in the Municipalities of Nepal (BCIPN) Program of NSET.
