Bhimeswor Municipality taking initiative towards implementing Building Code in the municipality
Bhimeswor Municipality conducted an interaction program on National Building Code implementation on 23 July 2014, at Bhimeshwar, Dolakha where the concerned stakeholders discussed on the importance, the need of building code implementation in the municipality and the issues and challenges Bhimeshwar municipality is facing to implement it. The program was inaugurated by Mr. Pralhad Pokhrel, Chief District officer of Dolakha District. Altogether 24 persons from different sectors such as officials from the municipality, political party representatives, Journalists, Chamber of Commerce representative, and representatives from NSET attended the interaction program.
Chief District Officer, Mr. Pralhad Pokhrel in his remarks highlighted the disaster risks the district is facing and the urgent need to implement the risk reduction measures. Mr. Amod Mani Dixit, executive director of NSET briefed on the importance of Building code implementation in the municipality for achieving earthquake safe communities in municipality. Chief District Officer, Mr. Pralhad Pokhrel and Municipality engineer, Mr. Suresh Raut both expressed their commitment in initiating the building code process in the municipality soon. The participants of the interaction program also urged the municipality officials to initiate the process of National Building Code without any delay and expressed their commitment to support the municipality in this endeavor.
Public Hearing Program “Nagarik Bahas”on Disaster Risk Management.
Kalinchowk FM, Dolakha with support from BBC Media Action organized a Public Hearing Program on Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) at Bhimeshwar Municipality, Dolakha on July 24, 2014 . Issues such as disaster risk scenario of Dolakha, ongoing efforts on disaster risk reduction, challenges, the need and the role of all the stakeholders on DRR were discussed in the program. Mr. Pralhad Pokhrel, Chief District officer of Dolakha District and Mr. Amod Mani Dixit, Executive Director of NSET were the panelist in the program. The program was organized amidst a huge mass including high level officials from municipality, Nepal Police, other government offices, representatives from political parties, private sector, media and local residents. Kalinchowk FM of Dolakha is one of the partner radio of NSET under 3PERM project.
Engineer of Bhimeshwar Municipality and representatives of NSET also visited Kalinchowk FM Radio station and a 2 hundred years old earthquake resistant house in Dolakha.
