The Program:
MDRIP will cover Illam and Panauti Municipalities of Illam and Kavre Districts respectively as pilot areas to implement the program and gradually seek to cover all 58 municipalities of Nepal. The project has two-pronged strategy; a) to strengthen the municipal capacities by institutionalization of the process of disaster risk reduction and consolidation of the build-up capacities by follow-up activities; b) start the process of disaster risk reduction. It is envisioned that the project will help replication of the successful experiences and lessons learned so as to achieve a uniform and enhanced level of DRM capabilities in other municipalities in Nepal.
