NSET orients NPL staff members on Earthquake Risk
NSET has oriented on earthquake risk and need of preparedness to the staff members of Nepal Pharmaceuticals Laboratory Pvt. Ltd (NPL) under 3PERM program in order to enhance the disaster resiliency of Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Industry in Nepal. NPL is one of the largest pharmaceuticals manufacturing companies of Nepal having more than 375 employees and producing varieties of pharma products to reduce the dependency of imported products.
Mr. Surendra Shah, Finance Manager of NPL welcomed the participants and resource persons from NSET. Speaking on the session, Mr. Shah thanked the initiation taken by NSET to make earthquake communities in Nepal and extending its offer to private sector to get them prepared for disaster risk management. He said that NPL would like to join hands with NSET for further collaboration to work together for disaster risk reduction in this sector.
This is the first program of this kind associated to pharmaceuticals manufacturing sector where around 25 participants from NPL and its sister organizations had actively participated in the presentation session and interacted on their concerns.
Mr. Surya Bhakta Sangachhe, Program Manager of 3PERM Program of NSET highlighted on the program objectives as well as on the need of disaster recovery and business continuity plan for pharmaceuticals producing stakeholders.
Mr. Kalyan Bista, PPP Specialist of 3PERM made presentation on earthquake risk of Nepal as well as on how to get prepared before, during and after the earthquakes.
Mr. Anil Jayswal, HR Officer facilitated the program. Participants were very happy to get oriented on earthquake/disaster risk reduction issues and shown their commitment to act on disaster preparedness at individual and family level. NPL made commitment to work further with NSET to build capacity of NPL staff to respond to disasters.
NSET was honored with token of love from NPL at the end of the program.
Interactive presentation session program was organized by NPL with technical support from National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET) under Public Private Partnership for Earthquake Risk Management Program supported by USAID/OFDA.
