DUDBC and NSET sign MoU for more comprehensive efforts
Realizing the fact that Nepal lies in high earthquake prone zone and promoting earthquake resistant construction can appreciably reduce the losses from the potential threat; Nepal Government, Ministry of Urban Development, Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC) and National Society for Earthquake Technology – Nepal (NSET) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to exchange cooperation for more comprehensive efforts in strengthening build safer communities in Nepal.
Director General of DUDBC Er. Shambhu K.C. and President of NSET Er. Shiva Bahadur Pradhanang on behalf of their respective organizations signed the MoU at the brief signing ceremony held in DUDBC on July 4, 2014. This MoU was on June 16, 2014 endorsed by Secretary level meeting at the Ministry of Urban Development. This MoU supersedes the previous MoU under the same aegis but with additional clauses to establish the ground of joint efforts more effectual, relevant and updated.
This document has been believed to contribute more in Nepal Government’s long term vision and mission as well as periodic plan and programs particularly focused on building safer communities in Nepal and also that of NSET. Both organizations are to work together in the areas of raising public awareness on National Building Code (NBC) implementation, Capacity building for the effective implementation of NBC, provide assistance to Local Government agencies on NBC implementation and also capacity building efforts of each of the organizations too.
This MoU will remain effective for 2 years duration.
