Our Values

NSET has been guided by its institutional beliefs, values and principles developed internally and also adopted from good practices of various institutions; local, regional and/or global. Bringing “substantial change in the application of technology to the many facets of earthquake disaster management for saving the lives of the people” has remained the guiding philosophy of NSET ever since its inception.

NSET stands by these values:

  • We put on concerns of earthquake safety on top priority.
  • We are deeply concerned with the ever-growing earthquake risk in the country.
  • We understand the overriding national development priorities, but also feel that earthquake risk mitigation should and could be built into any national development policies.
  • We are highly convinced in the possibility of making a change despite the generally adverse economic situation of our country and are determined to reduce the earthquake risk in Nepal.
  • We firmly believe that Nepalese initiatives are primary for achieving any long term sustainable results in favor of Nepalese communities.
  • We are committed to work with government agencies, local communities and institutions through exchanging and transferring our knowledge and expertise.
  • We operate as a non-government organisation governed and abide by high values of professional ethics and standards.
  • We uphold the principles of integrity, transparency, objectivity and accountability in our operations and decision-making.
  • We do not endorse any political ideology, party and candidacy, and will not engage in any political activities, except those that are directly related to advancing our mission.
  • We try our best to create favorable environment for funding agencies and socially active groups to prioritize and work on earthquake risk mitigation measures.
Last but not least, we feel very much pleased to coordinate with or facilitate the efforts of any individual or institution working towards the similar mission.
