The National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET) is seeking to fill a few engineers as per the following details:

Position Title:    Civil Engineer/Structural Engineer/Geotechnical Engineer

Position Tenure: Full-time

NSET requires the services of engineering professionals to perform tasks in support of the implementation of various projects being implemented by NSET
     
Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Field survey, analysis and design of earthquake-resistant buildings (particularly school and other public buildings) as required by NSET projects and programs.
  • Seismic vulnerability assessment of existing buildings, development of intervention measures/options, analysis of options, comparative analysis of options, retrofit designs
  • Field supervision during implementation of earthquake-resistant construction or retrofitting of existing buildings
  • Structural and non-structural vulnerability assessment of critical / public infrastructures
  • Develop / adapt methodologies for seismic vulnerability assessment of buildings and other critical facilities
  • Develop / adapt methodologies for seismic hazard, risk assessment and implement/assist to implement the methodologies
  • Develop curricula and materials for awareness and training programs on earthquake-resistant design and construction of buildings
  • Conduct / assist to conduct training programs, awareness programs and other information, knowledge sharing meeting, workshops, seminars, symposia
  • Develop / assist to develop plans, programs and strategies for earthquake risk reduction and preparedness
  • Assist in implementation of projects and programs to be implemented by NSET
  • Reporting and documentation
  • Other relevant responsibilities defined during the employment

Key Qualifications:

  • Bachelors in Civil Engineering with minimum of 2 years  working experience. Preference would be given to M. Sc. in Structural or Earthquake or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • Fluent spoken and written English language
  • Program Management Experience
  • Computer skills: MS Office, AutoCAD, Structural Engineering Software
  • Work experience in community mobilization or similar field will be of added value
  • Priority to Female, Dalits, Janajatis and  physically handicapped candidates

Supervisor:
The proposed Structural/Earthquake Engineer shall initially work under the direct supervision of the Director of Urban and CBDRM Division of NSET and may be transferred to other divisions as and when required based on the program activities.

Duty Station:
Kathmandu or outside Kathmandu Valley

Remuneration:
As per established NSET policy
