The National Society for Earthquake Technology – Nepal (NSET) is a multidisciplinary professional society registered with the Government of Nepal as a Non-Government Organization in 1994. NSET is working with the vision of making "Earthquake Safe Communities in Nepal by 2020".
Awareness raising has remained the core element of NSET initiatives. Under the ongoing programs and efforts of NSET, public media has been a vital tool to disseminate information and educate people on earthquake issues. In a way, electronic, print and new media are the intrinsic components of each of NSET endeavours. Furthermore, some of the NSET initiatives are explicitly focused on media campaigns.
Applications are now invited from the interested and qualified Nepali citizens for the following position:
Position: Media Officer No. of Position: 1
Duration: 1 year period with possibility of extension Probation Period: 3 months
Location: Kathmandu (with frequent field visits within Nepal)
Job responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of Advocacy and Outreach Manager, the Media Officer will: work for overall media coordination of NSET which may include range of activities in disseminating knowledge & information through various electronic, print and new media on promoting earthquake safety in Nepali communities; coordinate the NSET supported and partnered Radio and Television programs; and develop and execute public awareness campaigns and awareness raising activities of NSET.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in related subject (Masters degree in related subject and work experience in related field can be advantageous).
- NSET expects good command in spoken and written English language, and high level of motivation to “implement with excellence” .
- Candidate with driving skill (with driving license) is preferred.
