Mason Training Program on Earthquake Resistant Building Construction
National Society for Earthquake Technology – Nepal (NSET) in association with the World Vision International Nepal (WVIN) conducted a five day 'Mason Training Program on Earthquake Safety Construction ' at Bungmati, Lalitpur from 10 - 14 September 2007. Enhancing knowledge and skills of masons and construction workers of Lalitpur District on the earthquake-resistant construction technology was the main objective of the program. The additional objectives of the program were a) Capacity enhancement of construction technicians for incorporating earthquake-resistant construction technology, disseminating the technology and in implementing earthquake risk management activities; b) Dissemination of earthquake resistant construction technology including the retrofitting technology for existing buildings to the key role players of the building construction process. Altogether 24 masons were trained on earthquake resistant construction techniques through this program.
