On request from Save the Children Alliance
(SCA), National Society for Earthquake Technology–Nepal (NSET) conducted
five days masons training program at Lahan.
The mason training program was organized in Dulichand
Sarada Atithi Sadan Lahan from 6 to 10 August 2006. Out of the 33 participants
20 were practicing masons, 4 sub-overseers, 2 overseers and 7 non technical
personnel from various partner agencies of SCA including representatives
form Nepal Red Cross Society.
The training was conducted as per the standard curricula
designed by NSET. The curricula have optimum theoretical sessions and
practical skill for upgrading the practicing masons in Earthquake Resistant
Construction Technology. All the sessions were conducted in a participatory
manner with presentations followed by the interaction of the participants.
The participants actively participated in entire duration of the training
program.
Earthquake Orientation at Biratnagar For Save the Children
Alliance
On request from Save the Children
Alliance (SCA), National Society for Earthquake Technology–Nepal
(NSET) conducted an Earthquake Orientation Program at Biratnagar.
The earthquake Orientation program was observed by 40 participants. Most
of them were the officials from SCA covering the eastern Districts of
Nepal. Representatives of various partner agencies of the SCA were also
present on the program. This one day program was organized at Hotel Swagatam
Biratnagar. The topics covered in the main presentation were earthquake
basics and earthquake risk management concept. In the program basic concept
of an earthquake resistant building was also discussed.
The presentation and the suggestions made during the audio visual presentation
were very much appreciated by the participants |
