Continuing the tradition of observing the Earthquake Safety Day by organizing
a series of programs including the annual symposium devoted to sharing
of knowledge and experiences in aspects of disaster risk management with
the natural focus on earthquake risk management.
This year (2006), the topic of the Symposium was Experiences in Earthquake
Risk Reduction and Response", organized on 12 January 2006 jointly
by the Department of Urban Development and Building Construction (DUDBC)
of the Ministry of Physical Planning and Works and the National Society
for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET). It was a full-day event with the
following session themes:
