Under the Community Based Disaster Management Program, a “Meeting on Project Progress and Future Direction” was organized jointly by UNDP and Ministry of Local Development in association with the implementing partners viz National Society for Earthquake Technology-Nepal (NSET) and Rural Empowerment Society (RES) on 8 December 2006 at Hotel Royal Century in Bharatpur. The meeting was organized to disseminate the project achievement and decide on the registration process for the institutionalization of the newly formed CDMGs. The CDMG Chairpersons, Executive Officers of all the six project municipalities and the six Area Coordinators working for the municipalities from NSET attended the meeting. Local Development Officers from Sindhuli, Sarlahi, Makawanpur, Chitwan, Tanahun and Syangja were also invited for the meeting. The key participants actively interacted on the various issues related to the sustainability and effective continuation of the newly formed CDMGs even after the project is completed.
