District-level Workshop

Preparatory Works for Institutionalization of Disaster Inventory/Information Management System (I-DIMS) in Nepal, December 6, 2006

As a part of the project, “Preparatory Works for Institutionalization of Disaster Inventory/Information Management System (PW/I-DIMS) in Nepal” implemented by NSET in selected two districts (i.e. – Chitwan and Tanahun) as pilot exercise, with the financial support of BCPR/UNDP, a District Level Consultation Workshop was conducted in Chitwan district on December 06, 2006. The workshop was organized by NSET jointly with District Development Committee – Chitwan with a focus to strengthen the Information Section of DDC – Chitwan. In the event, demonstration of DesInventar System was also made to all participants to let them know how it works and what are the benefits of DIMS as well as DesInventar methodology in Disaster Risk Reduction Planning, Risk assessment etc, focusing the use of this methodology in district level planners working in disaster management. There were altogether 47 participants from different sectors and the workshop was very much successful in drawing interest of those stakeholders on the importance of Disaster Information Management System and to implement the system in their district.
