Earthquake Safety Rally 2010

As a part of 12th Earthquake Safety Day celebration, Earthquake Safety Rally was organized in Lalitpur. The rally was inaugurated by Honorable Minister for Home Affairs Mr. Bhim Bahadur Rawal at the premises of Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City, Pulchowk, Lalitpur. The rally was initiated with an Elephant at front carrying model of earthquake resistant building and decorated with earthquake safety awareness messages. The rally was led by the ESD National Committee Banner, Nepal Army Band, Nepal Police Band, Armed Police Force Band, Nepal Scout Band and the local Dhimey Baja. The Government and Non Government Organizations, Community Based Organizations, School Students, Scout, Nepal Army, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, Trained Masons Associations, Women’s Group, Professional Organizations from the civil society and the people from different communities participated throughout the entire route. The rally participants were carrying banners of their respective organizations and placards with messages on Earthquake Risk Reduction. The huge procession started from LSMC premises passed through Patan Dhoka, Nakabahil, Patan Durbar Square, Mangal Bazar, Lagankhel, Kumaripati and converged into the National Meeting at Lalit Mandap in Jawalakhel.  On its way, the rally had paid tributes to Earthquake Monument at Mangalbazar.
