In honor of those deceased ones by the largest ever earthquake in the Nepalese history of the year 1934 and in all the past earthquakes, Earthquake Memorial Meeting was held at the historical place of Bhugol Park, New Road, Kathmandu in the morning at 8:30 on the day of January 16, 2010. Mr. Bhim Bahadur Rawal, Home Minister and Chairperson of National Committee of Earthquake Safety Day, Mr. Shankar Prasad Koirala, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs; Mr. Ganesh Rai, Chief and Executive Officer, Kathmandu Metropolitan City; Mr. Arjun Kumar Thapa, Chief and Executive Officer, Lalitpur Sub-Metropolitan City; Mr. Amod Mani Dixit, Executive Director, NSET and Member Secretary, National Committee, and government officials & security staffs, disaster risk reduction professionals & activists; and community people paid tribute with one minute silence and national anthem followed by offering bouquets on Earthquake Monument.
